FAQ
Can GOBI products be HSA/FSA eligible?
Many GOBI heated and cooling products may qualify for HSA/FSA reimbursement when used to address a qualifying medical need. Through our partnership with TrueMed, eligible customers can complete a brief health survey to determine whether their purchase qualifies.
What conditions may qualify for HSA/FSA eligibility?
Customers often use heated and cooling products to help manage symptoms associated with cold sensitivity, poor circulation, Raynaud’s syndrome, arthritis, neuropathy, heat intolerance, multiple sclerosis-related heat sensitivity, and other conditions that affect temperature regulation. Eligibility is determined on an individual basis through TrueMed’s clinical review process.
What is a Letter of Medical Necessity?
A Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) is documentation from a licensed healthcare provider confirming that a product is being used to treat, mitigate, or manage a qualifying medical condition. If you qualify through TrueMed, their licensed providers will issue the required documentation for your records.
Which GOBI products may qualify?
Eligibility varies by product and individual circumstances. Heated jackets, heated vests, heated gloves, heated baselayers, cooling vests, and other temperature-regulation products may qualify when used for an approved medical purpose. Eligibility is determined through TrueMed’s review process.
Does insurance cover GOBI products?
Most health insurance plans do not directly cover heated or cooling apparel. However, eligible customers may be able to use pre-tax HSA/FSA funds through TrueMed to purchase qualifying GOBI products. Depending on your tax situation, this can provide significant savings compared to paying out of pocket.
Will I know if I qualify before I buy?
Yes. During the TrueMed process, you’ll complete a brief health survey that is reviewed by licensed providers. If your purchase qualifies, you’ll receive the documentation needed to use HSA/FSA funds or seek reimbursement, depending on your payment method.
What if I pay with a regular credit or debit card?
You may still be eligible. If you qualify through TrueMed, you’ll receive the documentation needed to submit your purchase for reimbursement through your HSA or FSA administrator. Many customers choose this option if they do not have an HSA/FSA card available at checkout.
Are there fees for using TrueMed?
No. There are no additional fees for using TrueMed during checkout. You pay the normal product price, and TrueMed handles the eligibility review and required documentation if you qualify.
How long does it take to receive my Letter of Medical Necessity?
If you qualify, your documentation is typically delivered by email shortly after completing TrueMed’s health survey. Timing may vary depending on the payment method used and the review process.
Why do I need to check out as a guest instead of using Shop Pay?
Shop Pay can bypass the payment options where TrueMed appears during checkout. To use TrueMed, select “Checkout as Guest” when prompted. This ensures you can access the TrueMed eligibility flow and complete the qualification process.
Why would someone use heated or cooling apparel for wellness?
Temperature regulation can have a significant impact on daily comfort and activity levels. Many customers use heated or cooling products to help manage cold sensitivity, poor circulation, arthritis discomfort, heat intolerance, and other conditions that make it difficult to maintain a comfortable body temperature throughout the day.
